Living Observatory Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Living Observatory handles your private journal in the current iPhone app version.

Effective and last updated: August 24, 2026

Overview

Living Observatory is a local-first journal. Your journal entries, original journal lines, and app settings are stored locally on your device. Living Observatory does not require a Kinno Labs account.

In the current version, Kinno Labs does not operate a server for this app and the app does not use cloud sync, analytics, advertising, tracking, AI or model calls, semantic analysis, purchases, or third-party SDK data collection.

Journal content and settings

You can create, edit, and delete your journal entries in the app. The private journal originals and settings remain in the app's local storage unless you choose to expose content through an iOS system action, such as a notification on your lock screen.

Living Observatory does not upload journal content or settings to Kinno Labs, a developer-owned server, or a cloud-sync service in the current version.

Notifications and lock-screen choices

Optional local notifications are scheduled by iOS on your device. You choose whether to allow notifications through the app and iOS notification settings.

If you opt in to Exact line on lock screen, Living Observatory can place an explicitly reviewed journal line in that notification. That line may be visible on the lock screen according to your iOS notification-preview settings. You can decline, change, or revoke notification permission in iOS Settings; turning notifications off stops future notifications but does not delete your journal.

Retention and deletion

Living Observatory retains journal entries and settings in the app-managed local storage on your device for as long as you keep them. Editing an entry replaces the locally stored version, and deleting an entry removes it from the app-managed local store.

Uninstalling Living Observatory removes the app-managed local data from that device as part of removing the app. iOS or device backups, system-managed copies, and content you separately share or expose through system features may have their own retention behavior; this policy does not claim that those copies are removed by deleting an entry or uninstalling the app.

Your choices

You can use Living Observatory without creating an account, edit or delete entries, decline or revoke local-notification permission, and uninstall the app. You are in control of whether a reviewed journal line is made available to a lock-screen notification.

Because the current version does not send journal data to Kinno Labs or a developer-owned service, Kinno Labs does not hold a remote journal copy to retrieve or delete. For questions about local data or privacy, contact us using the address below.

Policy changes

We may update this policy when Living Observatory's behavior, iOS integration, or legal requirements change. We will identify changes with an updated effective date or policy version, and material changes will be explained through an appropriate app or public-site notice when applicable.
